1. Purpose & Scope
GardenSLUG is a community for Adult Fans of LEGO (AFOLs) to share our passion for building and creativity. This Code of Conduct ensures our meetings, public displays, and online platforms remain welcoming, safe, and respectful for all members and the public.
2. Expected Behavior
- Respect and Inclusivity: Welcome all adult fans regardless of background, budget, or building skill. Treat every member with kindness, both online and in person. Harassment, discrimination, or bullying of any kind will not be tolerated.
- Family-Friendly Environment: Because LUGs frequently interact with the public, all MOCs (My Own Creations), conversations, and displays must remain family-friendly and free of profanity, sexual content, or politically controversial themes.
- Collaboration: Members are encouraged to share building techniques and collaborate on group projects in a constructive, positive manner.
- Creativity: Encourage diverse building styles, themes, and ideas.
3. Event and Display Guidelines
- Public Safety: Keep display areas clean, organized, and safe for public viewing.
- Public Representation: When representing GardenSLUG at public conventions, shows, or LEGO Store events, you are expected to arrive on time and adhere to event safety rules. Maintain a family-friendly attitude when representing the club in public.
- Security of Property: Members are responsible for their own displays and property. Garden SLUG is not liable for damage or loss at exhibitions.
- Don’t Touch: Never touch another member’s display layout without explicit permission.
4. The LEGO Group (TLG) Guidelines
- Brand Integrity: Members must respect The LEGO Group’s (TLG) Brand Values, Intellectual Property (IP) guidelines, and Fair Play policies.
- TLG Support and Opportunity Abuse: Access to exclusive TLG programs is a privilege. Members must not sell items received through, or violate the confidentiality rules of, any programs or opportunities received by the LUG.
5. Online and Social Media Conduct
- Members must maintain a professional and respectful tone on all LUG-affiliated digital platforms (e.g., Discord, Facebook, forums). Do not post or share confidential information discussed within the group.
6. Marketplace & Trading
- Fair Play: No scalping, price-gouging, or deceptive trading practices within the group.
- Transparency: Clearly state the condition (New, Used, Complete) of all items for sale.
- Buyer Beware: The group is not responsible for private transactions between members.
7. Consequences for Violations
Violations of this Code of Conduct will be reviewed by the Garden SLUG leadership team. Depending on the severity of the offense, consequences may include:
- Verbal or written warning.
- Suspension from LUG privileges (e.g., support, display opportunities).
- Revocation of LUG membership (see bylaws)
Handling of Complaints: Any Garden SLUG member may contact any Board Member to file a complaint about a fellow member. The Board will investigate and take appropriate action, including mediation, correction, or dismissal of a member who has violated any code of conduct, as necessary.
